 Envy is destructive: it can both make people unhappy in themselves and drive them to harm the object of their envy.

 I once played for our school football team. One of my teammates played so well that bothe the coach and the other teammates liked him very much. As time went by, I became more and more envious of him, complaining that he got the coach’s praise and appreciation, which I should have enjoyed. Therefore , whenever he was on the pitch with me, I would refuse to pass the ball to him. Of course, our team suffered a lot due to my envy of him.

  Luckily enough, the coach realized where our team was wrong and pointed out my mistakes just in time. I felt very sorry and apologized for what I had done. Never have I envied others ever since then.
